Job Overview
This position leads the design, implementation, and evaluation of climate resilience initiatives in Nefasit, Eritrea. The role requires strategic collaboration with local stakeholders, government agencies, and international partners to develop sustainable environmental solutions. Candidates will manage field operations, coordinate technical teams, and ensure alignment with global climate action frameworks.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute climate resilience programs focused on land restoration, water conservation, and sustainable agriculture
- Conduct field assessments to identify climate vulnerabilities and prioritize intervention areas
- Coordinate with local communities to implement agroforestry practices and climate adaptation strategies
- Monitor and evaluate program impact using climate data analytics tools
- Prepare technical reports and present findings to stakeholders and funding bodies
- Represent ICRAF in regional climate policy discussions and capacity-building workshops
Required Skills
- Expertise in climate risk assessment and adaptation planning
- Proven experience managing environmental projects in arid or semi-arid regions
- Strong stakeholder engagement and cross-cultural communication skills
- Proficiency in GIS mapping and climate modeling software
- Ability to analyze environmental datasets and generate actionable insights
- Fluency in English and Tigrinya
Education
- Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Climate Studies, or related field
- Certification in Climate Change Adaptation or Sustainable Development (preferred)
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in climate resilience program management
- Previous work in Eritrea or neighboring regions (advantageous)
- Project management experience in international development contexts
Salary
5000–7000 Eritrean Nakfa (SSP) per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
