Job Overview
This role focuses on optimizing the interdependence between water and energy systems in Eritrea’s arid regions. The specialist will collaborate with local governments, NGOs, and international partners to design integrated solutions that enhance resource efficiency and resilience.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct technical assessments of water and energy infrastructure in remote Eritrean communities.
- Develop cross-sectoral strategies to reduce energy consumption in water treatment and distribution systems.
- Lead stakeholder workshops to align project goals with national sustainability targets.
- Monitor and report on the environmental impact of water-energy projects.
- Provide technical support for the implementation of solar-powered water pumping systems.
Required Skills
- Expertise in water-energy systems modeling and lifecycle analysis.
- Proficiency in GIS mapping and data visualization tools.
- Strong project management skills with a track record in multi-stakeholder collaboration.
- Fluency in Eritrean languages (Tigrinya, Arabic) and English.
- Experience with international development funding mechanisms (e.g., EU grants, World Bank).
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Management, or related field.
- Master’s Degree preferred, with a focus on sustainable systems design.
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in water-energy nexus projects, preferably in arid regions.
- Proven experience in Eritrea or neighboring East African countries.
Salary
150,000 – 200,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
