Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Water Resource Management Specialist to lead our strategic water conservation and management initiatives in the Gash-Barka region. This role is critical to our mission of securing long-term water availability for agricultural and domestic use. The successful candidate will oversee complex hydrological assessments, design sustainable water management frameworks, and lead multidisciplinary teams in the field. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of integrated water resource management (IWRM) strategies.
- Conduct comprehensive hydrological modeling and groundwater assessment studies.
- Coordinate with local authorities to ensure compliance with national environmental regulations.
- Manage large-scale field operations involving community-based water infrastructure projects.
- Provide technical oversight for borehole drilling and rainwater harvesting systems.
- Prepare detailed technical reports and feasibility studies for international donors.
Required Skills
- Advanced proficiency in GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and hydrological modeling software.
- Expertise in sustainable groundwater management and watershed protection.
- Strong project management skills with experience in large-scale NGO operations.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities in remote environments.
- Fluency in local languages and professional English.
Education
A Master’s degree in Hydrology, Environmental Engineering, Water Resource Management, or a closely related scientific field is mandatory. A PhD in a specialized field will be considered a significant advantage.
Experience
Candidates must possess a minimum of seven years of professional experience in water resource management, preferably within the international development or environmental consultancy sector.
