Job Overview
The Renewable Energy Project Engineer will lead the technical design, execution, and monitoring of solar and wind power installations in the Barentu region. This role collaborates closely with local authorities, international partners, and internal multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards. The engineer will also contribute to feasibility studies, cost‑benefit analyses, and the preparation of detailed engineering documents.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed engineering designs for solar PV and wind turbine installations, including site layout, electrical schematics, and mechanical foundations.
- Conduct feasibility studies, resource assessments, and financial modeling to support project approval.
- Coordinate procurement, logistics, and installation activities with contractors and suppliers.
- Monitor construction progress, perform on‑site inspections, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Prepare technical reports, progress updates, and as‑built documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the local community and government agencies to secure permits and foster stakeholder relationships.
- Implement performance monitoring systems and conduct post‑commissioning analysis to optimize energy output.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of solar PV and wind turbine technologies, grid integration, and power electronics.
- Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, PVSyst) and project management tools (MS Project, Primavera).
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
- Effective communication skills in English; knowledge of local languages (Tigrinya or Arabic) is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and lead multidisciplinary teams in challenging environments.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in project management (PMP) or renewable energy (e.g., NABCEP) are advantageous.
Experience
Applicants must have 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience in renewable energy project engineering, preferably with demonstrated involvement in both solar and wind projects from concept through commissioning.
Salary
The position offers a competitive salary ranging from 150,000 to 250,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and allowances for housing and transportation are also provided.
