Job Overview
The Data Center Operations Manager will oversee the day‑to‑day management of IBM’s Assab data center, ensuring optimal performance of servers, networking equipment, power and cooling systems, and security protocols. This role involves strategic planning, capacity forecasting, incident response, and continuous improvement initiatives to align the data center’s operations with IBM’s global standards and local regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a multidisciplinary team of technicians, engineers, and support staff to ensure 24/7 data center operations.
- Monitor and manage server performance, storage capacity, network bandwidth, and power usage effectiveness (PUE) to meet service level agreements (SLAs).
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all critical infrastructure components.
- Coordinate incident response, root‑cause analysis, and remediation activities for outages or security breaches.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, IBM global policies, and industry standards such as ISO 27001 and Uptime Institute Tier certifications.
- Prepare capacity planning reports and recommend upgrades or expansions to support growing client demand.
- Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and procurement of hardware, software, and consumables.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives, including automation, energy efficiency, and cost‑optimization projects.
- Collaborate with sales and client services teams to design and deliver customized solutions for regional customers.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation, including operational procedures, change logs, and audit trails.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure, including servers, networking, storage, UPS, and HVAC systems.
- Proficiency in monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, IBM Spectrum Protect) and automation platforms (e.g., Ansible, PowerShell).
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities and a data‑driven approach to performance optimization.
- Effective leadership and team‑building skills with a focus on mentorship and skill development.
- Clear communication skills for interfacing with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Understanding of cybersecurity best practices and incident response frameworks.
- Project management experience, preferably with PMP or ITIL certification.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications such as Cisco CCNP, VMware VCP, or Microsoft Azure Administrator are highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in data center operations, infrastructure management, or a comparable IT environment. Prior experience managing a team in a high‑availability setting is essential.
Salary
The position offers a competitive salary ranging from 1,200,000 to 1,800,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and benefits are included.
