Job Overview
The Data Center Operations Manager will oversee the end‑to‑end operation of Dell’s state‑of‑the‑art data center in Dekemhare. This role is responsible for ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability of critical IT services that support Dell’s regional customers. The manager will lead a multidisciplinary team of engineers, technicians, and support staff, implementing best practices in facility management, capacity planning, and disaster recovery. Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily operations of the data center, ensuring 99.9% uptime and compliance with industry standards such as ISO 27001 and Uptime Institute Tier III.
- Develop and execute capacity planning strategies to accommodate projected growth in compute, storage, and network resources.
- Manage a team of 15+ technical professionals, providing coaching, performance evaluations, and career development pathways.
- Oversee preventive maintenance schedules for power, cooling, fire suppression, and physical security systems.
- Coordinate with Dell’s global engineering and security teams to implement patches, firmware updates, and vulnerability mitigations.
- Lead incident response and root‑cause analysis for outages, documenting lessons learned and process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, environmental standards, and corporate sustainability policies.
- Prepare and present operational reports, KPI dashboards, and budget forecasts to senior leadership.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure, including UPS, HVAC, PDUs, and networking equipment.
- Proficiency in monitoring tools such as Dell OpenManage, Nagios, or SolarWinds.
- Excellent leadership and people‑management abilities, with a focus on building high‑performing teams.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex technical data and make data‑driven decisions.
- Effective communication skills for interfacing with internal stakeholders, vendors, and customers.
- Project management experience, preferably with PMP or ITIL certification.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications such as Cisco CCNP, VMware VCP, or Dell EMC Proven Professional are highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of five years in data center operations, facilities management, or IT infrastructure roles, with at least two years in a supervisory or managerial capacity. Experience in emerging markets or multicultural environments is a plus.
Salary
The competitive salary range for this position is SSP 150,000 – 250,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may be offered.
