Job Overview
The Cybersecurity Threat Intelligence Analyst will join IBM’s Information Security team in Zula, playing a pivotal role in identifying, analyzing, and mitigating cyber threats targeting both IBM’s internal assets and client environments across Eritrea. The analyst will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to develop actionable intelligence, support incident response, and enhance the overall security posture of the organization. This position offers a unique opportunity to work with advanced threat‑hunting tools, contribute to strategic security initiatives, and engage with a diverse set of stakeholders, including government bodies and private sector partners. Candidates will be instrumental in shaping IBM’s security strategy in the region, ensuring that the company remains at the forefront of cyber defense.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor global and regional threat feeds to identify emerging cyber threats relevant to Eritrean operations.
- Conduct in‑depth analysis of malware, phishing campaigns, and advanced persistent threats.
- Produce timely threat intelligence reports and briefings for senior leadership and client teams.
- Collaborate with incident response teams to provide contextual intelligence during security events.
- Develop and maintain threat intelligence databases, playbooks, and detection rules.
- Engage with external intelligence communities, industry groups, and government agencies.
- Recommend security controls and mitigation strategies based on intelligence findings.
- Support the design of security awareness programs using real‑world threat examples.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical abilities with experience in threat analysis and attribution.
- Proficiency with SIEM platforms, threat intelligence platforms (TIP), and open‑source tools.
- Knowledge of networking protocols, operating systems, and common attack vectors.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report creation and stakeholder briefings.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary security team.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as GDPR, NIST, and local Eritrean cyber laws.
- Certification such as CISSP, CEH, or GCTI is a plus.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline is required. Advanced degrees or specialized certifications will be considered advantageous.
Experience
Applicants should have 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience in cybersecurity threat intelligence, threat hunting, or related security analysis roles. Experience within the African region or with multinational enterprises is highly desirable.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from 150,000 to 250,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. IBM also offers performance‑based bonuses and comprehensive benefits.
