Job Overview
The Solar Project Engineer will lead the technical planning, design, and execution of utility‑scale solar installations in the Southern Red Sea region. Reporting to the Renewable Energy Project Manager, the role involves coordinating multidisciplinary teams, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and delivering projects on time and within budget. Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed engineering designs, layout plans, and electrical schematics for solar farms ranging from 5 MW to 50 MW.
- Conduct site assessments, including solar resource analysis, topographical surveys, and grid interconnection studies.
- Prepare technical specifications, procurement packages, and tender documents in collaboration with the procurement team.
- Lead the installation, commissioning, and performance testing phases, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Coordinate with local utilities to secure interconnection agreements and manage grid integration challenges.
- Monitor project progress, prepare status reports, and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.
- Provide technical support during operation and maintenance handover, including training of local O&M staff.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in solar design software such as PVSyst, Helioscope, or SAM.
- Strong understanding of IEC and local Eritrean electrical standards.
- Excellent project management abilities, including scheduling, budgeting, and stakeholder communication.
- Analytical problem‑solving skills with a focus on optimizing system performance.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Tigrinya or Arabic is an advantage.
- Ability to work in remote field conditions and adapt to cultural contexts.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required.
