Job Overview

The Software Development Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining high‑performance software applications that support Huawei’s product portfolio and service offerings in Eritrea. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams, including product managers, system architects, and quality assurance engineers, to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy robust software applications using Java, Python, or C++.
• Collaborate with product owners to gather and analyze requirements, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
• Implement RESTful APIs and micro‑service architectures to enable seamless integration with Huawei’s ecosystem.
• Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring adherence to coding standards.
• Optimize application performance, conduct profiling, and resolve bottlenecks.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of software designs, technical specifications, and user guides.
• Support continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using tools such as Jenkins and GitLab.
• Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive innovation.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in at least one major programming language (Java, Python, C++).
• Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
• Experience with database systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, or NoSQL).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (Huawei Cloud, AWS, or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and analytical thinking.
• Effective communication skills in English; knowledge of Arabic or Tigrinya is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Education

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline is required. Candidates with advanced certifications in cloud computing, AI, or network technologies will be given preference.

Experience

Applicants should have 3 to 5 years of professional experience in software development, preferably within the telecommunications or ICT sector. Experience with large‑scale distributed systems, mobile applications, or network management tools will be considered an advantage.

Salary

The compensation package ranges from 150,000 to 250,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and expertise. In addition to the base salary, performance‑based bonuses and allowances are offered.
