Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mining Geotechnical Engineer to join our technical team in Barentu. This role is critical to the stability and safety of our open-pit and underground mining operations. As a senior member of the engineering department, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring geotechnical models that ensure the structural integrity of mine walls, slopes, and infrastructure. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive geotechnical investigations and site characterizations to support mine design.

  • Oversee the installation and monitoring of geotechnical instrumentation such as piezometers and inclinometers.
  • Perform quantitative risk assessments for potential slope failures or ground instability.
  • Collaborate with the mine planning team to optimize pit designs and waste rock dump stability.
  • Provide technical oversight and mentorship to junior geotechnical technicians and engineers.

Required Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in geotechnical modeling software such as Rocscience or Slide.
  • Deep understanding of rock mechanics, soil mechanics, and structural geology.

Education

A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related geological discipline is required. A PhD is highly preferred for this senior-level position.

Experience

Candidates must possess a minimum of 7 years of direct experience in geotechnical engineering within a large-scale mining environment.
