Job Overview
The Senior Metallurgical Engineer will play a pivotal role in our Badi operations, overseeing the complex chemical and physical processes used to extract valuable metals from ore. This is a high-level technical position that requires a deep understanding of hydrometallurgy, pyrometallurgy, and mineral processing circuits. You will be responsible for optimizing plant performance, reducing reagent consumption, and ensuring that all extraction processes meet our stringent environmental and safety standards. This role is critical to the long-term viability of our mining projects in the region. We are currently hiring in Eritrea for specialists who can bridge the gap between theoretical mineralogy and large-scale industrial application.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimize metallurgical flowsheets to maximize metal recovery rates.
- Oversee the operation of leaching, smelting, and refining circuits to ensure consistent product quality.
- Conduct detailed mass and energy balance calculations to improve process efficiency.
- Lead metallurgical testing and pilot plant studies for new ore bodies.
- Implement advanced process control systems to monitor real-time extraction data.
- Collaborate with the geology department to understand ore mineralogy and its impact on processing.
- Ensure all metallurgical activities comply with international environmental and safety regulations.
Required Skills
- Advanced expertise in hydrometallurgical and pyrometallurgical processes.
- Proficiency in metallurgical modeling software and process simulation tools.
- Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting complex chemical reactions in the plant.

Education
A Master of Science (MSc) or PhD in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field is mandatory. Candidates must demonstrate a strong academic background in mineral processing and extractive metallurgy.
Experience
A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in a large-scale mining or metal processing facility is required. Proven experience in optimizing extraction processes and managing metallurgical laboratory operations is highly preferred. Candidates should have experience working in remote mining environments.
Salary
The offered salary range for this position is 45,000 to 75,000 SSP per month, depending on experience and technical expertise.
