Job Overview
The Network Planning Engineer will lead the design, optimization, and rollout of radio access and core network solutions for EriTel’s expanding portfolio. Working closely with senior engineers, project managers, and external vendors, you will develop detailed network plans, perform capacity forecasting, and ensure compliance with national regulations and international standards. Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive radio network designs for 4G/5G deployments, including site selection, frequency planning, and antenna configuration.
- Conduct capacity analysis and traffic forecasting to anticipate future demand and recommend infrastructure upgrades.
- Collaborate with civil, RF, and transmission teams to integrate network plans with site acquisition and construction schedules.
- Perform drive‑test measurements and post‑deployment audits to validate network performance against KPIs.
- Prepare technical documentation, cost estimates, and project timelines for senior management review.
- Ensure all network designs comply with Eritrean regulatory requirements and international safety standards.
- Support vendor negotiations by providing detailed technical specifications and performance criteria.
- Participate in cross‑functional workshops to align network strategy with business objectives and emerging technologies.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in RF planning tools such as Atoll, Planet, or iBwave.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and generate actionable insights.
- Excellent knowledge of LTE/5G architecture, protocols, and optimization techniques.
- Familiarity with GIS mapping, Excel modeling, and project management software.
- Effective communication skills for presenting technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or Certified Wireless Network Professional (CWNP) are advantageous and demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning.
Experience
Candidates must have at least five years of hands‑on experience in telecom network planning, preferably within a carrier environment. Experience with both rural and urban deployments in emerging markets is highly valued, as is a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
Salary
