Job Overview

The Mineral Processing Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing, optimizing and supervising the processing plant that converts raw ore into market‑ready concentrates. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the engineer will collaborate with geologists, metallurgists and operations teams to ensure efficient, safe and environmentally responsible production. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement mineral processing circuits, including crushing, grinding, flotation and leaching, to maximize recovery rates.
  • Conduct pilot plant trials and scale‑up studies to validate process designs and improve plant performance.
  • Monitor plant operations, analyze process data, and recommend adjustments to meet production targets and quality specifications.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, health and safety standards, and corporate sustainability policies.
  • Prepare technical reports, cost‑benefit analyses, and project documentation for senior management.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical training to operational staff.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of mineral processing principles, equipment and control systems.
  • Proficiency in process simulation software such as METSIM, HSC Chemistry or similar.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a data‑driven mindset.
  • Effective communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration and stakeholder reporting.
  • Ability to work in remote locations and adapt to challenging field conditions.
  • Commitment to safety, environmental stewardship and ethical conduct.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mineral Processing or a closely related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, Six Sigma) are considered an advantage.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of hands‑on experience in mineral processing plant operations, design or optimization, preferably in copper, gold or polymetallic projects. Experience with large‑scale industrial plants and familiarity with ERP or plant management systems is highly desirable.

Salary

The competitive compensation package ranges from SSP 150,000 to SSP 250,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based bonuses and expatriate allowances may be offered.
