Job Overview

The Agronomy Specialist will develop and implement agronomic plans for key crops in the Assab region, translating research into field‑level solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Design agronomic strategies that meet yield and quality targets.
• Conduct soil tests, field trials, and crop monitoring.
• Provide technical guidance and training to farm staff and partner growers.
• Evaluate new seed varieties and precision‑ag tools with the R&D team.
• Report on crop performance, input use, and cost‑benefit outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with Olam’s safety and environmental policies.
• Align agronomic practices with processing quality standards.
• Participate in outreach programs that promote sustainable farming.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of crop physiology, soil science, and pest management.
• Proficiency in data analysis and agronomy software.
• Effective communication for training and reporting.
• Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
• Problem‑solving mindset focused on innovative, cost‑effective solutions.
• Familiarity with climate‑smart agriculture practices.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Science, Plant Science, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or certifications in crop management or sustainable agriculture are a plus.

Experience

Three to five years of hands‑on agronomy experience in commercial farming or agribusiness, preferably in East Africa, is required.

Salary

The position offers a salary range of SSP 150,000 to SSP 250,000 per month, plus performance‑based bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package.
