Job Overview

The Agricultural Supply Chain Analyst will play a critical role in designing, monitoring, and optimizing the flow of agricultural commodities from farms to markets across Eritrea. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the analyst will gather and analyze data on production, transportation, storage, and market demand to identify bottlenecks and recommend evidence‑based improvements. Key Responsibilities

• Collect, validate, and analyze quantitative and qualitative data on agricultural production, inventory levels, transportation routes, and market prices.
• Develop and maintain supply chain dashboards and GIS‑based visualizations to monitor real‑time performance indicators.
• Identify inefficiencies, forecast demand fluctuations, and propose actionable recommendations to improve logistics and reduce post‑harvest losses.
• Collaborate with field teams to design pilot projects that test innovative storage solutions, cold‑chain technologies, and market linkage models.
• Prepare detailed analytical reports and presentations for donors, government officials, and internal stakeholders.
• Support the procurement team by providing accurate forecasts for agricultural inputs and commodities.
• Ensure compliance with WFP’s data protection policies and Eritrean regulatory requirements.

Required Skills

• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or Tableau.
• Experience using statistical software (e.g., R, Stata) and GIS tools for spatial analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of Tigrinya or Arabic is an advantage.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in multicultural environments.
• Problem‑solving mindset with a focus on practical, data‑driven solutions.
• Understanding of agricultural value chains, especially in the Horn of Africa.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Supply Chain Management, Economics, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CSCP, GIS) are considered a strong asset.

Experience

Minimum of 2‑4 years of professional experience in supply chain analysis, agricultural economics, or a similar role within NGOs, international development agencies, or the private sector. Experience working in Eritrea or neighboring countries is highly desirable.

Salary

The position offers a competitive monthly salary ranging from 120,000 SSP to 180,000 SSP, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Salary is paid in Eritrean Nakfa (SSP) and includes statutory benefits.
