Job Overview

The Agricultural Supply Chain Manager will lead the end‑to‑end supply chain operations for John Deere’s agribusiness division in Eritrea. This role is pivotal in ensuring the timely procurement, storage, and distribution of agricultural inputs, equipment parts, and finished products to our customers in Assab and surrounding regions. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute comprehensive supply chain strategies that support John Deere’s agricultural product portfolio in Eritrea.
• Manage procurement processes for seeds, fertilizers, spare parts, and equipment, ensuring compliance with quality standards and cost targets.
• Oversee warehousing operations, including inventory control, demand forecasting, and safety stock optimization.
• Coordinate transportation and distribution networks to guarantee on‑time delivery to dealers, cooperatives, and large‑scale farms.
• Implement data‑driven analytics to monitor supply chain performance, identify bottlenecks, and drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with sales, engineering, and field service teams to align supply chain activities with market demand and product launches.
• Ensure adherence to local regulations, customs procedures, and John Deere’s global compliance policies.
• Lead a team of logistics coordinators, warehouse staff, and procurement specialists, fostering a culture of excellence and safety.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of agricultural supply chain dynamics, including commodity handling and equipment logistics.
• Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and supply chain analytics tools.
• Excellent negotiation and vendor management abilities.
• Leadership skills with experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
• Effective communication in English; Arabic or local languages are a plus.
• Problem‑solving mindset with a focus on sustainability and cost efficiency.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications such as CSCP, CPIM, or a Master’s degree are advantageous.

Experience

Minimum of five years’ experience managing supply chain functions within the agriculture sector, preferably with exposure to equipment or input distribution in emerging markets. Demonstrated success in optimizing inventory, reducing lead times, and improving service levels is essential.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 150,000 to 250,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and incentives are also part of the compensation package.
