Job Overview

The Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance Specialist will be responsible for overseeing the quality management system for all Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical products manufactured, imported, or distributed in Eritrea. This includes ensuring compliance with local and international regulations, conducting audits, managing documentation, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with GMP, ISO 9001, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct internal and supplier audits, prepare audit reports, and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Review and approve batch records, validation protocols, and change control documents.
  • Collaborate with regulatory affairs to ensure product registrations and renewals are compliant with Eritrean Ministry of Health guidelines.
  • Lead investigations of product deviations, non‑conformances, and customer complaints, and implement root‑cause analysis.
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior QA staff and cross‑functional teams on quality standards and best practices.
  • Support continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing product quality, process efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date quality documentation, ensuring traceability and readiness for external inspections.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and pharmaceutical regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a detail‑oriented mindset.
  • Proficiency in quality management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective communication skills in English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Project management experience, including planning, execution, and reporting.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related discipline is required. Candidates with a Master’s degree or professional certifications such as Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) or Certified Pharmaceutical GMP Professional are highly preferred.

Experience
