Job Overview:IFAD is seeking a Sustainable Urban Agriculture Specialist to join its team in Mendefera, Eritrea. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing sustainable urban agriculture projects that promote food security and improve the livelihoods of rural communities. The position will involve working closely with government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and local communities to develop and implement projects that address the needs of urban agriculture in Eritrea.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement sustainable urban agriculture projects that promote food security and improve the livelihoods of rural communities
- Work closely with government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and local communities to develop and implement projects that address the needs of urban agriculture in Eritrea
- Conduct research and analysis on urban agriculture trends and best practices in Eritrea and globally
- Develop and implement training programs for farmers, extension agents, and other stakeholders on sustainable urban agriculture practices
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of urban agriculture projects on food security and livelihoods
Required Skills:
- Master’s degree in Agriculture or related field
- 5-7 years of experience in urban agriculture or related field
- Strong knowledge of sustainable agriculture practices and urban agriculture trends
- Excellent communication and project management skills
- Ability to work in a team and build partnerships with government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and local communities
