Job Overview:IFAD is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Sustainable Urban Agriculture Specialist to join its team in Mendefera, Eritrea. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing sustainable urban agriculture projects that promote food security, improve livelihoods, and enhance the resilience of rural communities. The position will involve working closely with government agencies, local organizations, and community groups to develop and implement projects that address the needs of urban and peri-urban farmers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement sustainable urban agriculture projects that promote food security and improve livelihoods
- Work closely with government agencies, local organizations, and community groups to develop and implement projects
- Conduct needs assessments and develop project proposals to address the needs of urban and peri-urban farmers
- Monitor and evaluate project progress, and make recommendations for improvement
- Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including government officials, local leaders, and community groups
Required Skills:
- Master’s degree in Agriculture or related field
- At least 5 years of experience in sustainable agriculture, urban agriculture, or related field
- Proven track record of designing and implementing successful projects that promote food security and improve livelihoods
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a team environment and build strong relationships with stakeholders
