Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Digital Forestry Systems Analyst to join our team in Tsega, Eritrea. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting data related to forest ecosystems, identifying trends and patterns, and developing strategies to improve forest management and conservation. Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze and interpret data related to forest ecosystems, including forest cover, tree species composition, and forest health
- Develop and implement strategies to improve forest management and conservation, including the use of remote sensing and GIS technologies
- Collaborate with local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders to promote sustainable forest management and conservation practices
- Develop and maintain databases and spreadsheets to track forest data and monitor progress towards conservation goals
- Conduct fieldwork to collect data on forest ecosystems, including tree measurements, soil sampling, and wildlife surveys
Required Skills:
- Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Forestry, or a related field
- 5-7 years of experience in forestry, environmental sustainability, or a related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect and analyze data from a variety of sources
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with local communities, government agencies, and other stakeholders
- Proficiency in remote sensing and GIS technologies, including ArcGIS and QGIS
- Experience with database management and data analysis software, including Microsoft Access and Excel
