Job Overview
The Pharmacovigilance Specialist will join Bayer’s Regional Drug Safety team based in Serejeqa, contributing to the monitoring, assessment, and reporting of adverse drug reactions (ADRs) for products marketed in Eritrea and neighboring regions. This role is pivotal in safeguarding patient health, complying with national and international regulations, and supporting Bayer’s reputation for safety excellence. The specialist will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including clinical, regulatory, and medical affairs, to collect safety data, conduct signal detection, and prepare periodic safety update reports. Key Responsibilities
- Collect, evaluate, and document adverse event reports from healthcare professionals, patients, and internal sources.
- Perform case assessment, causality analysis, and seriousness classification in accordance with local regulations and ICH guidelines.
- Prepare and submit Individual Case Safety Reports (ICSRs) to the Eritrean Ministry of Health and other regulatory authorities.
- Conduct periodic safety signal detection and risk assessment activities.
- Collaborate with Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, and Quality Assurance to ensure timely resolution of safety issues.
- Maintain and update the local safety database, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Assist in the preparation of Periodic Safety Update Reports (PSURs) and Risk Management Plans (RMPs).
- Provide safety training and guidance to internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Support audit readiness and respond to regulatory inspections.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of pharmacovigilance regulations (e.g., ICH E2E, E2B, local Eritrean guidelines).
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Proficiency in safety database systems (e.g., Argus, Arisg).
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in English; knowledge of local languages is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multicultural team.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Education
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Medicine, Nursing, or a related life‑science discipline is required. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Pharmacovigilance Professional) are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.
Experience
Candidates should possess 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience in pharmacovigilance, drug safety, or related regulatory roles within the pharmaceutical industry. Experience with African regulatory environments and familiarity with local health‑care systems will be viewed favorably.
Salary
