Job Overview

The Solar Farm Maintenance Supervisor will lead a team of technicians responsible for the operation, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of solar photovoltaic (PV) installations at Schneider Electric’s flagship solar farm in Mendefera. Key Responsibilities

• Supervise daily operations of the solar farm, ensuring 99%+ availability and performance.
• Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules for PV modules, inverters, transformers, and balance‑of‑system components.
• Lead troubleshooting efforts for electrical, mechanical, and control system faults, minimizing downtime.
• Coordinate with the health & safety team to enforce strict safety protocols and conduct regular safety drills.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, performance reports, and compliance documentation.
• Manage inventory of spare parts, tools, and consumables, optimizing stock levels to reduce costs.
• Train and mentor junior technicians, fostering a culture of technical excellence and safety.
• Collaborate with the engineering department to implement upgrades, retrofits, and performance enhancements.
• Ensure adherence to local regulations, environmental standards, and Schneider Electric’s corporate policies.
• Provide regular updates to senior management on operational metrics, incidents, and improvement opportunities.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, including module technology, inverter operation, and grid interconnection.
• Proficiency in electrical testing equipment, SCADA systems, and data acquisition tools.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities with a systematic approach to fault diagnosis.
• Leadership and team‑building skills, capable of motivating diverse technical staff.
• Effective communication in English; knowledge of Tigrinya or Arabic is a plus.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related technical field is required. Professional certifications such as NABCEP PV Installation Professional, IEC 62446, or equivalent are highly desirable and will be considered an asset during the selection process.

Experience

Candidates must have a minimum of five years’ hands‑on experience in solar farm operations or large‑scale PV maintenance, with at least two years in a supervisory or lead role. Experience working with international standards, managing cross‑functional teams, and delivering measurable performance improvements is essential.

Salary
