Job Overview
This role focuses on leveraging satellite imagery and geospatial data to support environmental decision-making in Eritrea. Key Responsibilities
- Analyze satellite and aerial imagery to monitor land use changes and environmental patterns
- Develop geospatial models for climate impact assessments and resource management
- Collaborate with local stakeholders to implement remote sensing solutions for agriculture and urban planning
- Produce high-resolution maps and data visualizations for policy reports and public awareness campaigns
- Maintain and update geospatial databases with real-time field data
Required Skills
- Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) and remote sensing tools (ENVI, ERDAS)
- Experience with Python or R for geospatial data analysis
- Strong understanding of environmental monitoring protocols
- Excellent communication skills for cross-sector collaboration
- Ability to work independently in remote field conditions
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geospatial Technology, Environmental Science, Geography, or related field
- Master’s Degree preferred but not required
Experience
- 3-5 years in geospatial data analysis or environmental monitoring
- Previous experience in Eritrea or other East African countries is an advantage
Salary
15,000 – 25,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
