Job Overview

This role focuses on leveraging satellite imagery and geospatial data to support environmental decision-making in Eritrea. Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze satellite and aerial imagery to monitor land use changes and environmental patterns
  • Develop geospatial models for climate impact assessments and resource management
  • Collaborate with local stakeholders to implement remote sensing solutions for agriculture and urban planning
  • Produce high-resolution maps and data visualizations for policy reports and public awareness campaigns
  • Maintain and update geospatial databases with real-time field data

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) and remote sensing tools (ENVI, ERDAS)
  • Experience with Python or R for geospatial data analysis
  • Strong understanding of environmental monitoring protocols
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-sector collaboration
  • Ability to work independently in remote field conditions

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geospatial Technology, Environmental Science, Geography, or related field
  • Master’s Degree preferred but not required

Experience

  • 3-5 years in geospatial data analysis or environmental monitoring
  • Previous experience in Eritrea or other East African countries is an advantage

Salary

15,000 – 25,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
