Job Overview

The Mine Safety Officer will play a pivotal role in ensuring a safe working environment across all mining operations in Barentu. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and enforce comprehensive mine safety procedures in compliance with local regulations and international best practices.
• Conduct regular site inspections, hazard identification, and risk assessments to proactively mitigate safety risks.
• Lead safety training programs, toolbox talks, and emergency drills for all mine personnel.
• Investigate incidents, near‑misses, and accidents, preparing detailed reports and corrective action plans.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, and environmental teams to integrate safety considerations into project planning and execution.
• Maintain accurate safety records, documentation, and reporting dashboards for senior management.
• Serve as the primary liaison with government safety inspectors and ensure timely compliance with all statutory requirements.

Required Skills

• In‑depth knowledge of mining safety regulations, standards (e.g., MSHA, ISO 45001), and best practices.
• Strong analytical abilities to assess hazards and develop effective mitigation strategies.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills for training and stakeholder engagement.
• Proficiency in safety management software and incident reporting tools.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Mining Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or NEBOSH are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of five years’ experience in mine safety or a comparable heavy‑industry environment, with a proven track record of reducing incident rates and fostering a safety‑first culture.

Salary

The successful candidate will receive a competitive monthly salary ranging from 150,000 to 250,000 SSP, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may be offered.
