Job Overview
The Cloud Solutions Architect will play a pivotal role in shaping the cloud strategy for AWS customers in Eritrea. Reporting to the Regional Cloud Lead, you will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design robust, secure, and scalable solutions on the AWS platform. Your responsibilities will include engaging with clients to understand their business objectives, translating requirements into technical architectures, and guiding implementation teams through best‑practice deployment. Key Responsibilities
- Engage with enterprise and SMB clients to assess cloud readiness and define migration roadmaps.
- Design end‑to‑end cloud architectures that address performance, security, cost, and compliance requirements.
- Provide technical leadership during proof‑of‑concepts, pilots, and full‑scale deployments.
- Collaborate with sales, solution engineering, and support teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Develop and deliver technical workshops, webinars, and training sessions for customers and partners.
- Stay current with AWS service releases, industry trends, and emerging technologies to advise clients on innovative solutions.
- Document architectural designs, best practices, and reference implementations for internal knowledge bases.
- Assist in pre‑sales activities, including proposal development and solution costing.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations and data sovereignty requirements in Eritrea.
Required Skills
- Deep expertise in core AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, and IAM.
- Proficiency in infrastructure‑as‑code tools (CloudFormation, Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong understanding of networking, security, and database concepts in cloud environments.
- Excellent problem‑solving abilities and a customer‑centric mindset.
- Effective communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Experience with migration strategies, including lift‑and‑shift, re‑platforming, and refactoring.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multicultural, distributed team.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, or equivalent are highly desirable and will be considered a strong differentiator.
Experience
Candidates must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience designing and implementing cloud solutions on AWS for enterprise‑level customers. Prior experience in emerging markets or with government and public sector projects in Africa is a plus, as it demonstrates an ability to navigate unique regulatory and infrastructural challenges.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from SSP 250,000 to SSP 350,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to the base salary, AWS offers performance‑based bonuses, stock options, and a comprehensive benefits suite.
