Job Overview

The Learning Experience Designer will be responsible for creating engaging, interactive, and standards‑aligned digital learning modules for K‑12 and higher education audiences in Eritrea. Working from the Nakfa hub, you will collaborate with subject matter experts, translators, and multimedia producers to develop content that integrates multimedia, assessments, and adaptive learning pathways. This position plays a critical role in Pearson’s mission to deliver high‑impact educational solutions that are accessible on multiple devices, including low‑bandwidth environments common in many parts of Eritrea.

As part of the role, you will also support the localization of existing Pearson products, ensuring that language, cultural references, and pedagogical approaches resonate with Eritrean learners. The position reports to the Senior Instructional Designer and works closely with the Product Management and Technology teams to align design decisions with technical constraints and market requirements. This is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Nakfa, with occasional travel to Asmara and regional partner sites for workshops and stakeholder meetings.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and prototype interactive e‑learning courses using authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, or similar platforms.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to translate curriculum standards into engaging learning objectives and activities.
• Integrate multimedia elements—including video, audio, graphics, and simulations—to enhance learner engagement and retention.
• Conduct usability testing and gather feedback from teachers and students to iteratively improve course design.
• Ensure all content complies with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1) and is optimized for low‑bandwidth delivery.
• Localize existing Pearson digital products for the Eritrean market, adapting language, cultural references, and assessment formats.
• Maintain detailed documentation of design decisions, version control, and project timelines using project management tools.
• Support the creation of instructor guides, learner manuals, and assessment rubrics that align with national education standards.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in instructional design methodologies such as ADDIE, SAM, or Agile design.
• Strong command of e‑learning authoring tools (Articulate 360, Captivate, Lectora, etc.).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Tigrinya or Arabic is a plus.
• Ability to work collaboratively in cross‑functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Analytical mindset with experience in evaluating learning outcomes and using data to inform design improvements.
• Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (Moodle, Canvas, or Blackboard) and SCORM/xAPI standards.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Curriculum Development, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., ATD Instructional Design Certificate) are highly desirable.

Experience

2‑4 years of professional experience designing digital learning solutions for K‑12 or higher education, preferably in emerging markets or multilingual environments. Experience with content localization and working with NGOs or government education agencies is an advantage.

Salary

The position offers a competitive monthly salary ranging from SSP 150,000 to SSP 250,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may be provided.
