Job Overview
The Tourism Development Officer will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing tourism initiatives that attract both domestic and international visitors to the Tessenei region. This position involves market research, product development, stakeholder engagement, and promotional activities aligned with ETDA’s strategic objectives. The officer will collaborate with local authorities, tour operators, hospitality providers, and cultural institutions to create compelling tourism packages, improve infrastructure, and ensure high service standards. By leveraging data-driven insights and innovative marketing techniques, the officer will help position Tessenei as a must‑visit destination, thereby supporting job creation and community empowerment. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive market analysis to identify tourism trends, target segments, and competitive positioning for Tessenei.
- Develop and launch tourism products, itineraries, and events that highlight local attractions, heritage sites, and natural resources.
- Coordinate with municipal officials, private sector partners, and community leaders to improve tourism infrastructure and service quality.
- Create and manage promotional campaigns, including digital marketing, social media, and participation in international travel fairs.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of tourism initiatives using key performance indicators and prepare regular reports for senior management.
- Facilitate training workshops for local businesses on hospitality standards, customer service, and sustainable tourism practices.
- Maintain relationships with travel agencies, tour operators, and media outlets to expand distribution channels.
- Ensure compliance with national tourism regulations, environmental guidelines, and cultural preservation policies.
Required Skills
- Strong analytical abilities with experience in market research and data interpretation.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in English and at least one local language.
- Proficiency in digital marketing tools, social media platforms, and content creation.
- Project management expertise, including budgeting, timeline management, and stakeholder coordination.
- Knowledge of sustainable tourism principles and cultural heritage conservation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Tourism Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications or a Master’s degree in Tourism Development, Sustainable Development, or International Relations are considered an advantage.
Experience
Applicants should have a minimum of three to five years of professional experience in tourism development, destination marketing, or related fields. Experience working with government agencies, NGOs, or international tourism bodies is highly desirable.
Salary
The position offers a competitive salary ranging from SSP 150,000 to SSP 250,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may be provided.
