Job Overview

The Network Planning Engineer will be responsible for designing, optimizing, and expanding EriTel’s radio access network (RAN) and core infrastructure in the Southern region. Working closely with cross‑functional teams, the engineer will develop detailed network plans, perform capacity forecasting, and ensure that rollout projects meet performance, cost, and timeline objectives. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive network design and expansion plans for 4G/5G and broadband services in the Southern region.
  • Conduct site surveys, RF propagation analysis, and capacity forecasting to determine optimal equipment placement.
  • Collaborate with civil, electrical, and construction teams to ensure seamless integration of network infrastructure.
  • Prepare detailed cost‑benefit analyses and budget proposals for network rollout projects.
  • Monitor network performance metrics and recommend optimization strategies to improve coverage and quality of service.
  • Coordinate with regulatory authorities to secure permits and ensure compliance with national telecommunications standards.
  • Support the implementation of network modernization initiatives, including the migration to next‑generation technologies.
  • Document all planning activities, maintain up‑to‑date network inventories, and produce regular progress reports for senior management.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of RF engineering principles, LTE/5G architecture, and microwave link design.
  • Proficiency with planning tools such as Atoll, Planet, or similar software.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities, with a data‑driven approach to decision making.
  • Effective communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.
  • Familiarity with Eritrean regulatory environment and spectrum allocation policies is a plus.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced certifications or a Master’s degree in a relevant field are advantageous but not mandatory.

Experience

Applicants should have 3 to 5 years of hands‑on experience in network planning, design, or optimization within a telecom operator or a consulting firm. Experience with rural or emerging market deployments is highly valued.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary ranging from SSP 150,000 to SSP 250,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may be provided.
