Job Overview

The Mine Operations Planner will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and optimizing operational plans for mining activities in the Barentu region. This position works closely with geologists, engineers, and senior management to ensure that extraction processes are efficient, safe, and aligned with corporate sustainability goals. The role involves detailed scheduling, resource allocation, and continuous improvement of operational workflows. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain short‑term and long‑term mine operation schedules that meet production targets.
• Coordinate with drilling, blasting, haulage, and processing teams to align resources and timelines.
• Analyze operational data to identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
• Prepare detailed reports on schedule performance, resource utilization, and cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with health, safety, and environmental teams to ensure compliance with local regulations and Rio Tinto standards.
• Support the integration of new technologies such as autonomous haul trucks and real‑time monitoring systems.
• Engage with community liaison officers to address local concerns and promote transparent communication.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in mine planning software (e.g., MineSched, Surpac, or similar).
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
• Ability to interpret geological models and translate them into operational plans.
• Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations in mining.
• Project management experience with a focus on timeline and budget adherence.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in project management or mine planning are advantageous.

Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of five years of experience in mine operations planning or a similar role within the mining industry. Experience in African mining projects, particularly in East Africa, is highly valued.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 150,000 to SSP 250,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additional performance‑based incentives may be provided.
