Job Overview
The Renewable Energy Project Manager will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of solar and wind projects in the Southern Red Sea region, with a primary focus on Barentu. Reporting to the Regional Director of Project Development, the successful candidate will oversee multidisciplinary teams, manage budgets, ensure compliance with Eritrean regulations, and drive stakeholder collaboration. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement project plans for solar and wind installations, from feasibility studies to commissioning.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, and finance teams to ensure timely delivery within budget.
- Manage relationships with government agencies, local communities, and international partners to secure permits and support.
- Monitor project performance, conduct risk assessments, and apply mitigation strategies.
- Prepare detailed progress reports, financial forecasts, and compliance documentation for senior management.
- Lead contract negotiations with EPC contractors, suppliers, and service providers.
- Ensure health, safety, and environmental standards are met throughout the project lifecycle.
Required Skills
- Proven experience managing renewable energy projects of 10 MW or larger.
- Strong knowledge of Eritrean energy regulations and permitting processes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Advanced analytical skills with proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic or Tigrinya is an advantage.
- Ability to work in remote locations and adapt to challenging field conditions.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Environmental Science, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as PMP, CEMP, or equivalent are highly desirable and will be considered an asset during the selection process.
Experience
Candidates must have a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience in renewable energy project management, with a track record of delivering projects on schedule and within budget. Experience in the African energy market, particularly in East Africa, will be viewed favorably.
Salary
The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 120,000 to 180,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and allowances for housing and transportation may be included.
