Job Overview
Cargill Eritrea is seeking a Food Processing Engineer to design, optimize, and manage food production processes in Nefasit. This role will focus on improving efficiency, quality, and safety in food manufacturing while aligning with international standards. The position offers opportunities to contribute to Eritrea’s growing agri-food sector and support local farmers through advanced processing technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement food processing systems for grains, oils, or dairy products.
- Conduct audits to ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards (HACCP, ISO 22000).
- Collaborate with suppliers to source raw materials and optimize supply chain efficiency.
- Train local staff on modern food processing techniques and equipment operation.
- Develop sustainability initiatives to reduce waste and energy consumption in production.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in food processing software (e.g., CAD, process simulation tools).
- Experience with food safety regulations and quality control protocols.
- Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting production challenges.
- Fluency in Eritrean languages (Tigre, Arabic) and English.
- Ability to work in remote or rural agricultural settings.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Food Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or related field.
- Master’s Degree preferred but not required.
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in food processing or agri-food engineering.
- Previous work in Eritrea or neighboring regions is an advantage.
Salary
15,000 – 25,000 Eritrean Nakfa (SSP) per month, depending on experience and qualifications.
