Job Overview

The Construction Project Manager will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of construction projects in Ghinda and surrounding regions. You will be responsible for overseeing all phases of the project lifecycle, ensuring that timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met. This position reports directly to the Regional Director of Operations and works closely with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, subcontractors, and local authorities. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Coordinate with design teams to ensure constructability and compliance with local regulations.
  • Lead on‑site construction activities, supervising subcontractors and ensuring adherence to safety standards.
  • Monitor project progress, prepare status reports, and communicate updates to senior management.
  • Resolve technical and contractual issues promptly to minimize delays.
  • Ensure quality control through regular inspections and testing.
  • Manage procurement of materials and equipment, optimizing cost efficiency.
  • Foster strong relationships with local stakeholders, government agencies, and community representatives.

Required Skills

  • Proven expertise in managing large‑scale construction projects from inception to completion.
  • Strong knowledge of Eritrean construction codes, standards, and permitting processes.
  • Excellent leadership, negotiation, and communication abilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project).
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Solid financial acumen for budgeting and cost control.
  • Commitment to health, safety, and environmental best practices.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or PE (Professional Engineer) are highly desirable.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of experience managing construction projects of at least $10 million in value, preferably within the African market. Experience working with multinational teams and familiarity with local labor practices in Eritrea are advantageous.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of 150,000 to 250,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and allowances may be provided.
