Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Geophysics Research Scientist to join our team in Foro, Eritrea. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting research and development in the field of geophysics, with a focus on seismic exploration and geophysical surveying.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in geophysics, with a Master’s degree or higher in a related field. They will also have significant experience in seismic exploration and geophysical surveying, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality results.

The successful candidate will be based in Foro, Eritrea, and will be required to travel to project sites as needed. They will be part of a dynamic and collaborative team, and will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects in the fields of earth sciences and environmental science.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and development in the field of geophysics, with a focus on seismic exploration and geophysical surveying.
  • Design and implement geophysical surveys, including seismic exploration and electrical resistivity tomography.
  • Collect and analyze data from geophysical surveys, and interpret results in the context of geological and environmental settings.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and clients to develop and implement geophysical surveying programs.
  • Communicate results and recommendations to clients and stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
  • Required Skills
  • Master’s degree in Geophysics or related field.
  • 8-12 years of experience in seismic exploration and geophysical surveying.
  • Strong background in geophysics, including seismic exploration and electrical resistivity tomography.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Education

    We are seeking a candidate with a Master’s degree in Geophysics or a related field. A Ph.D. in Geophysics or a related field is an asset.

    Experience

    We are seeking a candidate with 8-12 years of experience in seismic exploration and geophysical surveying. Experience in electrical resistivity tomography and other geophysical methods is an asset.

    Salary

    The successful candidate will be offered a salary of SSP 50,000 – 70,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
