Job Overview

This role is part of ICCROM’s initiative to digitize and archive Eritrea’s intangible and tangible cultural heritage. The Cultural Heritage Digital Archivist will lead efforts to create high-resolution digital records of historical sites, artifacts, and oral traditions in Adi Keih and surrounding regions. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct field surveys to identify and document cultural heritage sites and artifacts.
  • Utilize 3D scanning, photogrammetry, and GIS software to create digital archives.
  • Collaborate with local communities to record oral histories and traditional practices.
  • Develop metadata standards for digital collections and ensure compliance with international preservation guidelines.
  • Present findings through interactive online platforms and educational resources.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in digital archiving software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, ArcGIS).
  • Experience with 3D modeling and virtual reality tools.
  • Strong understanding of cultural heritage preservation principles.

  • Fluency in English and Tigrinya.

Education

Candidates must hold a Master’s Degree in Digital Archiving, Cultural Heritage Management, or a related discipline. Additional certifications in archival science or heritage technology are advantageous.

Experience

Salary

15,000 – 25,000 Eritrean Nakfa (SSP) per month, commensurate with experience.
