Job Overview
This role involves designing and implementing AI-driven agricultural systems to improve productivity and sustainability in Eritrea’s arid farming environments. The position is part of a strategic initiative to digitize smallholder farming operations, supported by partnerships with the Eritrean Ministry of Agriculture and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
Key Responsibilities
- Develop IoT-based crop monitoring systems using soil and weather sensors
- Design machine learning models for predictive crop yield analysis
- Integrate drone technology for precision irrigation and pest management
- Conduct field trials for AI-powered fertilization optimization algorithms
- Prepare technical documentation for smart farming software platforms
li>Collaborate with local farmers to implement digital farming solutions
Required Skills
- Expertise in agricultural data analytics and Python programming
- Experience with IoT device integration in farming contexts
- Knowledge of climate-smart agriculture practices
- Proficiency in GIS mapping for land use optimization
- Strong problem-solving skills for field-based technical challenges
- Fluency in Tigrinya and English
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering, Computer Science, or Environmental Technology

Salary
