Job Overview

The Investment Analyst will join the Investment & Portfolio Management department in Mendefera, providing critical analytical support for the evaluation, structuring, and monitoring of investment projects funded by the Bank. The successful candidate will conduct rigorous financial analysis, prepare detailed investment memoranda, and collaborate with senior managers to assess risk, return, and alignment with strategic objectives. This role is central to ensuring that AfDB’s capital is allocated efficiently, fostering sustainable development and economic diversification in Eritrea. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive financial modeling, valuation, and sensitivity analysis for prospective investment projects.
  • Prepare investment memoranda, business cases, and presentation decks for senior management and Board review.
  • Conduct market research, sector analysis, and competitive benchmarking to inform investment decisions.
  • Assess project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and monitor post‑investment performance.
  • Collaborate with legal, compliance, and risk teams to ensure adherence to AfDB policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Engage with government ministries, private sector partners, and NGOs to gather data and validate project assumptions.
  • Support the preparation of quarterly and annual investment performance reports.
  • Maintain a pipeline of potential investment opportunities and track industry trends relevant to Eritrea’s economic development.

Required Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and Excel; familiarity with Bloomberg, Reuters, or similar data platforms.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative abilities with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Arabic or local languages a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of African financial markets, investment structures, and development finance.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint for creating compelling presentations.

Education

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline is required. Candidates holding a Master’s degree (e.g., MBA, MSc in Finance) are strongly preferred, reflecting the analytical rigor demanded by the role.

Experience

Applicants should have 2‑4 years of relevant experience in investment analysis, corporate finance, private equity, or development finance. Experience working on infrastructure, energy, or agribusiness projects in emerging markets, particularly within the African context, will be considered an advantage.

Salary

The position offers a competitive salary range of SSP 150,000 to SSP 250,000 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Performance‑based bonuses and other incentives may be applicable.
